Less than two months ago, we discussed many of the parables in the Book of Matthew. In this sermon, we will address those parables in the book of Luke, which are not addressed in the book of Matthew. They include, among many others, the parable of the good Samaritan; the rich fool; the great supper; the lost son, the unjust steward; the Pharisee and the tax collector; the minas; and of course the mostly misunderstood parable of Lazarus and the rich man.
Sermons
Boldness
The Chrisitan life is not an easy life. But our attitude is paramount in how we handle situations. One of the major things that we can have is boldness. Boldness needs to be a part of how we live. The boldness of Christ should work through us strongly, allowing us to make the right choices at the right times. Choices have to be made and once we are making choices with the right type of boldness, we will do well.
The Book of 2 Thessalonians
What significance does Paul’s prophetic writing have for us today? Who is the son of perdition and the man of sin, sitting in the temple of God, claiming to be God? What is meant with “antichrist”? Are God’s people still going to face the falling away from the truth? Does the Bible teach that Christ returns twice? How does God send strong delusion?
The Giving of Comfort
The good news of the Kingdom of God is a message of comfortfor the world—it is also the sustaining hope for those called by God.
The Pre-existence of Christ
Jesus was the Word or Logos before His human birth and the conclusion from all of this Biblical evidence is clear – Jesus was not created. He existed from eternity along with God the Father. This sermon proves, with many Scriptural references, that the One Who became Jesus Christ existed from eternity.
Don’t Hold Grudges
A grudge is a heavy thing to carry. But, it appears that unfortunately, a lot of heavy things are being carried today by so many in the world and maybe by a few in the true Church of God! The greatest example of all was Jesus Christ, Who did not retaliate in any way when He was killed in the most barbarous manner imaginable. He did not bear a grudge in any way and demonstrated that there is no room for grudges and resentments in any way, and that is precisely how we should behave!
Humility
Keeping the Feast of Unleavened Bread helps us to look at sin in our lives. This in turn should lead us to realize that we are not without sin. Therefore we cannot be proud. Often times, sin comes from an attitude of pride. Instead, we should remain humble in the fact that God allows us to repent and be cleansed from our sins.
No Hiding Place
At the turn of the 20th century, people could hide. The explosion of technology had not even been thought of then, let alone practiced. Big Brother is all around us today where we have the social media where everybody seems to know just about everything about everyone else! True Christians should not go into hiding, even if that were possible, but do everything they can to please God, live up to their high calling and set the best example possible.
The Parable of the Mustard Seeds
Our faith starts out small, like that of a small mustard seed. But it is required to grow to become a large tree. Looking at the various iterations of this scripture, we can see just how important it is for us to be growing in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ.
The Time is Now
We have often heard it said that “timing is everything”. This is true in Christ’s time, in our time, and throughout the fulfillment of prophecy. Why are certain events appropriate only at certain times? What kind of action is required of us at this time?
