The Bible commands us to fast on occasion. But why? And how can we make sure that God accepts our fasting and that He does not reject it as useless? How can we distinguish between correct and wrong fasting? And what could be the result of proper fasting in our lives and the lives of others?

Comments on News and Prophecy (October 13, 2018)
In this feature, we are commenting on the resurfacing of the frightening Nazi philosophy in our time; the coming worldwide economic crash; the explosive situation in the Middle East in light of Saudi Arabia’s atrocities; the devastation caused by hurricane Michael; America’s last President; the accelerating differences between the USA and the EU; Angela Merkel’s sinking ship; Germany’s highly controversial and dangerous far-right pro-military AfD party; the imposition of the mark of the beast on Christian values and conduct in Germany; abortions; the ongoing sex scandal within the Catholic Church; and the false teaching of the “prosperity gospel.”
The Spirit of God, of Angels, of Man and of Animals
The Bible teaches the existence of a human spirit, a spirit in animals, created spirit beings such as angels and those who became demons, and the Holy Spirit of God. Most do not understand much about this. This sermon will explain the differences and point out Scriptures which are rendered ambiguously in some translations.
Abound
Are we able to respond to difficult circumstances in a way that demonstrates our ability to stay close to God without wavering? What does the Bible tell us about how we can abound in our lives, regardless of the trials we face?
What is the Work of God?
The Bible makes reference to the fact that God is instrumental in directing work that involves mankind. How is that being accomplished, and who is God leading to accomplish His goal?
LGD 2018: Next
Jesus said that the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice. This Last Great Day—the Eighth Day of the Feast—pictures a time when those still dead will be resurrected and give account to God.
LGD 2018: Attention!
How are we to be “sober and vigilant” in this world today? What about in the Church? Is what we should be doing RIGHT NOW have any significance with what our immediate future holds?
LGD 2018: Preparing for No Time
What is God’s perspective of time versus ours? We know that God is eternal and not subject to time like the created universe is. The world is passing away and all that is lasting will be comprised of spirit. Are we planning for a future in which we will also exist in eternity?
LGD 2018: Will YOU Be Here Next Year?
We can easily be sidetracked if we are not fully focussed on what we are trying to achieve. Satan can use others – and our own lack of faith – to steer us off course which is his aim in life. He can’t be in the Kingdom of God and he wants to divert as many as he possibly can from achieving that goal and we can fall into his trap if we are not close to, and remain close to God. Will you be here next year? The answer is a resounding yes if you want to, and by staying close to God and His church, you will succeed. If any today don’t follow through and keep the way of life to which we have been called, they can be in grave danger and may not be here next year. Please be careful, stay close to God always and endure to the end as we are admonished to do, and you will be here at the Feast next year.
LGD 2018: Time to Give Up?
As we get closer to the return of Christ, Satan is more and more angry, especially with God’s people. He will try and get us to give up in many areas of our lives. How can we make sure that we are not swayed by this? There is much training that we need to do on a consistent basis to make sure that we don’t give up.
